A lot of people love the idea of being a model, but with the modeling industry it isn’t always as easy as sending and employer an application or resume.  You will usually need a modeling portfolio, or comp card, along with what photographers you’ve worked with or a resume of events/projects you’ve worked with.

As a non-professional photographer, there are still many steps The-Shoot can help you with in starting (or even continuing) your modeling career.

  1. Find out if you’re comfortable in front of the camera, and see the results
  2. Starting/Setting-up a portfolio (a range of photos to represent your comfort with different styles in front of the camera)
  3. Putting together a comp card with your photos and information

I can and want to help you with your modeling experience, and I don’t expect you to pay a large amount for this service.  My prices are reasonable, and I provide you with an excellent service; to include photo edits.  I want you to walk away with a final product that you are happy with.

When I work with you I shoot several pictures, usually more then what is needed.  This can range from 200 to 600 photos in a single session.  This not only helps us avoid any blinks or blurs on an otherwise great picture, but also provides you with a large selection for your portfolio.  Instead of limiting you to a set amount of pictures.

Some things to consider when building a portfolio:

There is always a lot to consider when starting, or even updating, a modeling portfolio.  First would be what suites you as a model, concepts and styles you are comfortable and interested in working in, as well as concepts and styles you do not want to work in.  These can range from portrait to artistic nudes, or anything in between.

Once you’ve established your comfort area of work, you’ll want to make sure your portfolio reflects the range you are willing to work in.  If for example you are comfortable with Portraits, and Swimsuit/Lingerie, then you’ll want a few shots (5 to 10 from each style) to display your comfort and ability to work with each style.

This displays your range to possible clients and photographers, usually submitted to them on a Comp Card or within your portfolio.

The more versatile you are as a model, the more opportunities become available.  And the more versatility you show in your portfolio, the more you will be able to present yourself for those opportunities.

Some examples of pictures I've taken for local models can be found on my online portfolio.  And if you'd like to set up a shoot of your own, please contact me via email at:  the.shoot@yahoo.com
