Retouching and Photo Editing:

Retouching and/or Editing a picture is typically the last step in the getting you the final product.  Some pictures come out amazing and are ready to go as soon as they are pulled off the camera, but some need a little assistance to give them that extra push to being great!

The usual request, and the one used most often on your picture, is just a quick retouch.  Fixing the color, and making sure it isn’t so dark you can’t see it but not so bright that it’s hard to look at.  Basically; it’s finding the right balance of everything in your picture.

A step up from that is still consider retouching, but is a little more difficult and time consuming.  When the color is thrown off (usually on indoor photos with limited lighting, or night time shots), o there is a color haze in the picture, the retouch is to clear that up and not only bring out the original colors.  But brighten them and make them more vibrant as well.

Lastly, would be a photo edit.  Edit just means that you are changing, or altering, the picture more then would be expected.  The most popular request I get would be changing eye color, or removing unwanted spots, marks, or lines (usually located on the face or body).  There are more major edits (as advertised on the side bar to the left) that can be done that are much more advance, and take much more time to accomplish but can sometimes make a picture more fun, artistic, or extremely interesting for all to see.
